Voz Latina Radio program receives 12th Gabriel Award

Family Theater Productions' Radio Department received its 12th Gabriel Award from the Catholic Academy for Communication Arts Professionals, Oct. 26 at the Directors Guild of America, Hollywood, for a Voz Latina, Spanish-language radio program, Día de los Muertos: Celebrando la Vida y la Muerte: Naciones y Culturas, the Spanish version of Day of the Dead: Celebrating Life and Death: Nations and Cultures.
It won in the category of Spanish-language Documentary. Taped on location, in Mexico, Ireland and the U.S., the program explores how the Day of the Dead is observed by different cultures and countries. It's the 31st industry award that Voz Latina Radio programs have earned since their release in October 1997.
Monica Castagnasso, Director of the Radio Department and producer of Voz Latina Radio programs, received the award with staff members Elli Bazini, sound engineer/composer (photo, center, holding the Gabriel Award), and Eddie Perez, production coordinator.
In a video played at the event, Father Willy Raymond, CSC, National Director of Family Theater Productions, presented The Gabriel Award for Personal Achievement "in memory of Father Patrick Peyton, CSC," on Oct. 23 to Micheal Flaherty, President and co-founder of Walden Media, whose produced films include The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Mr. Flaherty wasn't able to attend the Oct. 26th awards ceremony. At the event, Father Raymond introduced a video clip on Father Peyton and Family Theater Productions.
