Family Theater Productions’ Classic Radio drama Mademoiselle FiFi, from the second season of the re-released, digitally enhanced programs, has received the prestigious New York Festivals Finalist Certificate in the 2008 Radio Broadcasting Awards competition, Best Regularly Scheduled Drama Program category. New York Festivals, now in its 51st year, “recognizes The World’s Best Work™ in advertising and programming.”
At the June 19 awards gala at the Tribeca Rooftop in Manhattan, Laetitia Rhatigan, Mission Director for the Family Rosary regional office in Albany, N.Y., actor Emilio Delgado (Luis on Sesame Street since 1971 and featured in some Voz Latina Radio shows), and actress Kika Child received the award and were among those who represented Family Theater Productions and its Radio Department at the awards banquet.
First aired on September 14, 1949, hosted by Joan Leslie and starring Wendell Corey, Mademoiselle FiFi also earned a 2008 Gold Communicator Award, judged as an Award of Excellence winner in the Drama category. Three other Classic Radio programs and Season Two of the series earned 2008 Silver Communicator Awards for Award of Distinction honors in four categories: One in a Million (Comedy); A Star for Helen (Social Issue); The Gold Bug (Other); and the Season Two programs (Entertainment). Also, Family Theater Productions’ Voz Latina Radio special Day of the Dead: Celebrating Life and Death: Nations and Cultures earned a 2008 Silver Communicator Award for being an Award of Distinction winner in Arts/Cultural. The Communicator Awards are overseen and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, honoring “creative excellence for communication professionals.” Voz Latina Radio programs have now won 32 industry awards since 1997.
